The Saluccis are believed to be linked to organized crime but have several legitimate businesses (extremely luxurious hotels and restaurants across New York and Miami) which gives them an alibi.

•Eula has always been rich and moved within those crowds but only in the last few years has that verged on 'famous', alongside her mother's rise to popularity. It's not real fame, just a lot of gossip and a bit of journalistic interest after the New Yorker article. (The article originally suggested that her mother's political career was being funded by the mafia, leading her to have to come out and explain that the payments she was receiving were child support.)

•Eula is spoiled and rebellious and spent her teenage years doing exactly what her mother told her not to do, including not going to college, getting really into party drugs, and also briefly running away to join a convent. She stuck with that for about six months but crashed out when it was made clear to her that she was only doing it to upset her mother, which it did.

•Eula has seen the public reveal of who her father is as an opportunity to worm her way into his good graces. More opportunistically, her grandfather Gio, the head of the family, has eyes on her as a potential asset and has brought her into the family business. Her father is resentful of her, seeing her as another way for Gio to circumvent letting him inherit the business – they never quite see eye to eye, but Eula is determined, accepting her grandfather's welcome without really questioning it.
